Women of a New Tribe Exhibit to highlight local African-American Women

From 6-9 p.m. on August 7, Indianapolis Public Library’s African-American History Committee and Jackie Nytes, Library CEO are hosting a gala opening reception for the Women of a New Tribe Exhibit. North Carolina photographer Jerry Taliaffero’s exhibit is a traveling photographic of the African-American woman, which highlights strong, local women.

The event will feature Maggie Lewis, Indianapolis City Council President as the opening address. There will also be a talk, ribbon cut and revealing by Taliaferro, with a wine and cheese reception. The gala opening reception will be held at Central Library in the Simon Reading Room, 40 E. St. Clair Street.
