Indiana Fever and No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft Aliyah Boston was named the league’s Rookie of the Month for May.
The announcement came on June 1. Boston’s accolade makes her the second player in Indiana Fever history to receive the award (Natalie Achonwa, June 2015.)
For May, Boston averaged nearly 16 points per game on 27 minutes of play per contest.
Additionally, Boston is second in the WNBA in field goal percentage at 66.7 percent, scoring double digits in every game thus far.
In a recent showdown against Connecticut, Boston led the Fever in points, dropping a delicious 20-piece with no sides.
Moreover, Boston shined in the first game against the Sun, notching 15 points and nine rebounds in the Fever’s home opener.
She became the first rookie in WNBA history to begin a career with four matches scoring at least ten points while shooting better than 60 percent from the field.
The ‘Red-headed Monstress’ (you heard it hear first) returns to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take on the defending champion Las Vegas Aces on June 4.
Expect the Rookie of the Month (and Rookie of the Year candidate) to put on a show.
