U.S. Rep. Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) introduced his first bill in the 119th Congress to finish building the border wall along the southern border with COVID-19 recovery funds.
The “Build the Wall Act” creates a Southern Border Wall Construction Fund to utilize unspent COVID-19 recovery money from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. The bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to utilize the funds to complete the wall.

“COVID funds have been mishandled for years. It’s time to put these taxpayer dollars to use toward something the American people want: A secure border,” Shreve said. “My first bill will deliver upon a commitment to every community and family that have been damaged by Biden’s open border policies. It is past time to secure the entirety of our southern border.”
The bill was introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives on Jan. 28 and now moves to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on Homeland Security.
A companion bill has been introduced in the Senate by Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY).
