Indiana’s primary election is right around the corner — May 5 to be exact. Here’s where and how Hoosiers can vote early.

Early voting officially began on April 7, and for those who wish to fulfill their civic duty ahead of election day, the City-County Council building, located at 200 E. Washington St., is one of a few places to vote now through May 4.

All registered Marion County voters may vote at any Vote Center on election day; however, beginning on April 25, Marion County residents may vote early at any of the following locations:

  • Decatur Township Government Center, 5410 S. High School Road
  • Franklin Township Government Center, 6231 S. Arlington Ave.
  • Indianapolis Public Library — Fort Ben, 9330 E. 56th St.
  • Indianapolis Public Library — Pike branch, 6525 N. Zionsville Road
  • Krannert Park Community Center, 605 S. High School Road
  • Perry Township Government Center, 4925 Shelby St.
  • St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St.
  • Warren Township Government Center, 501 N. Post Road

The previous eight early voting locations are open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and accept early voters until noon on May 3. Each location will also provide early voting hours on April 25 and May 2 — the last two Saturdays before the election. These times may vary based on township and location.

In order to vote — early or on Election Day — voters must bring a valid form of ID issued by the State of Indiana or the U.S. government to the polling location. Valid forms of ID include a driver’s license, military ID or a U.S. passport.

For those who wish to vote absentee by mail, the deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on April 23. Applications may be completed online or hand-delivered, faxed, mailed or emailed, according to the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office. However, mail-in applications for a vote-by-mail ballot must be received by the voter registration office by April 23, even if it’s been postmarked before the deadline, or it will not be processed.

Absentee voters must provide either a photocopy of a valid form of ID, their voter ID number, or the last four digits of their Social Security number.
