The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) is bringing music back to Indianapolis Parks this September.
The free concerts, which are in partnership with Indy Parks with support from The National Bank of Indianapolis and The Penrod Society, will take place in Garfield Park on Sept. 4, in Riverside Park on Sept. 5 and Holliday Park on Sept. 6. The ICO will perform a variety of classical favorites, Broadway hits and performances from The Global Prep Academy Bilingual Choir and Indianapolis Suzuki Academy.
The first concert, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 at the MacAllister Amphitheatre at Garfield Park, will also be ICOās first of the year. Students from the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy will join the orchestra onstage to perform works by Chevalier, Rossini and Schubert as well as Cole Porter (āNight and Dayā) and Henry Mancini (āThe Pink Pantherā). The concert will also include sections from Bernsteinās West Side Story and a Broadway medley entitled āCurtain Up!ā

The next concert, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Riverside Park, will include the same repertoire with the addition of Filhoās Cidade Maravilhosa with students from Global Prep Academy. In celebration of Brazilās independence in September, the ICO will also perform Barrosoās āBrazil.ā
Lastly, the concert on Sept. 6, which takes place at 7 p.m. at Holliday Park, will see the ICO joined by the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy students. Audience members will also be treated to a āyoga breakā during the performance led by Invoke Yoga to set to Mozartās āEine Kleine Nachtmusik.ā
This concert will also include the aforementioned works by Rossini and Schubert, tributes to Cole Porter and Henry Mancini, selections from Bernsteinās āWest Side Storyā and āCurtain Upā ā which celebrates Broadway hits such as āThere’s No Business like Show Business,ā āPhantom of the Opera,ā āDon’t Rain on My Paradeā and āEverything’s Coming Up Roses.ā
