The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) is bringing music back to Indianapolis Parks this September.

The free concerts, which are in partnership with Indy Parks with support from The National Bank of Indianapolis and The Penrod Society, will take place in Garfield Park on Sept. 4, in Riverside Park on Sept. 5 and Holliday Park on Sept. 6. The ICO will perform a variety of classical favorites, Broadway hits and performances from The Global Prep Academy Bilingual Choir and Indianapolis Suzuki Academy.

The first concert, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 at the MacAllister Amphitheatre at Garfield Park, will also be ICOā€™s first of the year. Students from the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy will join the orchestra onstage to perform works by Chevalier, Rossini and Schubert as well as Cole Porter (ā€œNight and Dayā€) and Henry Mancini (ā€œThe Pink Pantherā€). The concert will also include sections from Bernsteinā€™s West Side Story and a Broadway medley entitled ā€œCurtain Up!ā€

The next concert, which takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Riverside Park, will include the same repertoire with the addition of Filhoā€™s Cidade Maravilhosa with students from Global Prep Academy. In celebration of Brazilā€™s independence in September, the ICO will also perform Barrosoā€™s ā€œBrazil.ā€

Lastly, the concert on Sept. 6, which takes place at 7 p.m. at Holliday Park, will see the ICO joined by the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy students. Audience members will also be treated to a ā€œyoga breakā€ during the performance led by Invoke Yoga to set to Mozartā€™s ā€œEine Kleine Nachtmusik.ā€

This concert will also include the aforementioned works by Rossini and Schubert, tributes to Cole Porter and Henry Mancini, selections from Bernsteinā€™s ā€œWest Side Storyā€ and ā€œCurtain Upā€ ā€” which celebrates Broadway hits such as ā€œThere’s No Business like Show Business,ā€ ā€œPhantom of the Opera,ā€ ā€œDon’t Rain on My Paradeā€ and ā€œEverything’s Coming Up Roses.ā€

Each of the concerts is free to attend and reservations can be made at icomusic.org for weather updates. More information can be found on ICO social media pages, website or by 317-940-9607.
