The “dog days” of winter are over as more pet-friendly events pop up all over the city to get you and your pup outside to enjoy the warmer weather. Here are some of the upcoming dog-friendly events happening in the Circle City this spring:

Indy Pet Pride

While June is typically celebrated as Pride month for humans, Pride also welcomes pets through the Pet Pride Celebration at Riverside Park on June 1. Featuring pet-friendly vendors, animal shelter pop-ups and nonprofits, Pet Pride is the perfect place to enjoy live music and celebrate pets within the LGBTQ+ community of Indianapolis. Hosted by IndyPride, this event is free to the public, but attendees should consider registering at IndyPride.org before the event to ensure there is ample space for you and your pet!

Cinco de Perro

No “Ruff” Dog Days event series: Cinco de Perro is set to take place on Sunday May 5 at Daniel’s Family Vineyard and Winery in McCordsville. The Cinco de Mayo celebration will greet guests with fun raffles, Hispanic cuisine and ice-cold PAWgaritas. Establishing the winery nearly 15 years ago, the Daniel family hosts a variety of family-friendly (and pup-friendly) events throughout the year. Tickets to Cinco de Perro cost $5 each and can be purchased through their website danielsvineyard.com.

FIDO Flea Market

Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (FIDO)’s annual flea market is slated to take place in a warehouse parking lot on Saturday, April 20 from noon to 3 p.m. Your pet will sniff out some good deals on dog and other pet supplies ranging in degree from brand new to gently used. Founded in 2005, FIDO works to improve the quality of life for outside dogs by creating safe spaces and resources for both dogs and their owners. With items ranging from dog bowls, collars and beds to litter boxes, cat toys and bird supplies, all the profits will be donated to FIDO to further their mission. Purchase your fluffy friend a new toy to get their tail wagging and support a good cause in the process. Those looking to attend can go to FIDOIndy.org to find out more info.

“We get a ton of donations and anything we can’t give out just sits in a warehouse, so a couple times a year we do a sale. It gets the supplies into the hands of those who need it,” said Jennifer Wright, a FIDO volunteer who manages the flea market.

Spyglass Falls Doggie Field Day

From making new furry friends to games, activities and prizes, the Spyglass Falls Doggie Field Day promises to be a “paw”-some good time for both you and your perfect pooch. Hosted on Saturday, May 18 from 6-8:30 p.m., this event provides an opportunity for your pup to frolic and meet some new friends, as well as a chance to mingle with fellow dog-owners. Located on Klotz Farm Blvd. in Fishers, this event is free for anyone looking to have a night out with their cute canine.
